Ace
Labrador Retriever - Border Collie
Ace is a precious gem who is playful, happy, kind, affectionate and he loves people. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs, unknown with cats but based on his gentle demeanor he would probably do well.
He was destined for euthanasia because he has scarred ears! Saved at the last minute, he is now at the sanctuary and enjoying his freedom.
If you are interested in Ace, please fill out an application at www.tahoewarf.org and call 775-338-6631 or 775-846-3773.

Amos
Pit Bull Terrier
Amos is a happy, mellow senior pit bull mix. He was a staff favorite in a high-kill California shelter and now is at our Stagecoach sanctuary where he is awaiting a forever family. Short walks and a comfy bed to sleep on are all it will take to make Amos even happier. He loves to give kisses and is friendly to people of all ages.
Amos would be a great companion for someone who works during the day, as he is housetrained, quiet, and content to sleep the day away while he waits for his people to come home! His eyesight is poor in low light levels and he does have some arthritis, but Amos is a true "turnkey", easy dog to love. Please complete an online adoption or foster application at www.tahoewarf.org if you think you can help Amos!

Bamboozle (Bam Bam)
Tabby - Orange
Bam Bam has the sweetest personality and is a loving older cat. His owner passed away and we are hoping to find him a new forever home to live out his senior years
Your lap will be occupied immediately upon sitting down and the purr machine goes at high speed right away.

Bamboozle, Katie, Hocus Pocus
Domestic Short Hair
Meet Katapult (Katie 8 y.o. female), Bamboozle (BamBam 8 y.o. male) and Hocus Pocus (also known as Jett, 10 y.o. female). All 3 cats have been recently vetted and are up to date on all of their vaccinations and health care.
The owner of these adorable cats, a true animal lover who rescued hundreds of animals over her lifetime, passed away on August 9th and her biggest concern while fighting cancer was who would take care of her animals when she passed.
Her niece was her primary caretaker and thus the caretaker of her animals as well. She asked her niece during her journey of passing over to “please take care of my animals. Do not let anyone put them down and please find them forever homes”.
All of the other animals were placed safely in homes except these three cats. Ideally we would like to keep the cats together. If necessary, Bam Bam could be placed separately, but Jett and Katie depend on each other so need to stay together. If you are interested in allowing these three to live out their lives peacefully and together, please fill out an application at www.tahoewarf.org or call 775-846-3773.

Bella
German Shepherd Dog
This sweet girl Bella was pulled from the **Red List** at a high kill CA shelter. She presented with superficial road rash and an open welt in her tail so it's likely she was hit by a car.
X-rays show pubis fractured in several places. It is expected that she should heal and will need strict confinement with exercise for six to eight weeks (which will be determined precisely once she sees an orthopedist). She has a very sweet demeanor and is incredibly lovable. Best place for her would be a mellow environment where she can heal and become a dog again.
If you are interested in Bella, please fill out an application at www.tahoewarf.org or call 775-338-6631 or 775-846-3773.

Blackie
Domestic Long Hair-black
Blackie is a Black, long haired, domestic weighing 8 lbs. All vaccinations are current and are not due again until February of 2024. Also, she was recently spayed. She did not have any litter of kittens prior to being spayed.
Blackie gets along well with the dogs in her current foster home. . She is playful and loves chasing the "lit red dot" around the house. Other toys will hold her interest as well. She uses a scratching post, leaving the furniture alone for the most part and between play times is content to sit quietly around people. She is very talkative and responds when spoken to. She does not bite or scratch people. Not much of a lap cat.
She is not a fussy eater, eating both wet and dry food twice per day.
She is a door darter as are many cats, so will need a secure environment where she cannot escape into the outdoors. We feel she will adjust well in a family home where she can roam the indoors freely. She is very friendly and content around people. If you would like to know more or are interested in meeting her, please fill out an application at www.tahoewarf.org and we will be in touch!

Buddy
Labrador Retriever - Husky
Buddy is a 2-year-old Hound/Shepherd mix. He arrived at a high-kill shelter along with his brother, Moose, and their family never came to pick them up. A trainer who had worked with both dogs in their original home recognized them and confirmed that they are brothers and have had some solid obedience training. They know lots of commands, are house-trained and have the best manners!
Buddy does not have to be adopted with his brother, but he would really like a home with at least one other dog to keep him company. He is gentle, well-mannered, and seems to like all people. Please complete an adoption application at www.tahoewarf.org or text/call 775-338-6631 to learn more about this wonderful dog!

Hocus Pocus (Jett)
Domestic Short Hair-black
Jett came to us after his owner passed away with the final wish that her animals find a safe home and not go to a shelter where they would be euthanized. We took him and his siblings, and now are hoping we can find the old guy a safe place to land.
He is pretty shy but very content to lounge on his cat tree or in a window and does warm up eventually. We would like nothing more than to find him a place to live out his senior years.
If you are interested in him, please fill out an application at www.tahoewarf.org and call 775-846-3773

Lola
Pit Bull Terrier
Lola is a bundle of fun who aims hard to please, is full of energy and will need an active owner to keep her busy. She is working on her manners as she currently loves to jump up and say hello as much as possible, but does know some basic commands.
She is fairly submissive to her humans but likes to play hard with other dogs. She will be spayed in early November. If you are interested in Lola, please fill out an application at www.tahoewarf.org and call 775-338-6631.

If you are interested in Lucky, please fill out an application at www.tahoewarf.org or call 775-846-3773 or 775-338-6631.

Lucy Lou
Pit Bull Terrier - Yellow Labrador Retriever
I’m a lotta Girl — who wants (and gives) a lotta love. Sadly, my owner died and left me an orphan, but his long-time rescue friend took me in. I am TOTALLY a respectful house guest. I don’t get into anything I shouldn’t. I love the dog door access to the yard, and don’t ever try to escape. And, I am fine home alone. But I sure enjoy my people being around too.
Pretty well adjusted if I say so myself. Please have a king size bed because I like to sleep with my person. But if you want me to stay on my bed, I will do your bidding. No problem. Oh, I like to sing with fire engine sirens. You can join in! I like to play with my squeaky toy — or go on short walks.
I have congenital stuff going on but I have learned to compensate well. Geez, been managing fine for 5 years. You will be surprised when you see how I can move!! : > )) — and maybe you will learn something about resilience -- and compensating that works!! And gotta love my underbite smile, and black mascara! Beguiling!
I love to tour in the car -- but would appreciate a low riding float boat. My ride used to be a Dodge Charger: I am COOL.
Please give me a chance to charm you!
Contact is my foster Mom, Robyn, in Carson City. She will only adopt to local folks and likes to speak with you on the phone, go over your application, and do home visit to see where I would live. She also asks for a donation to WARF — they do such great things for us needy pups. Thank you for reading about me, come meet me! 775-240-5142 phone/text.

Marigold
Domestic Short Hair
Marigold is from a litter of six that came to us from Winnemucca. She is happy to have the opportunity to become a house cat as the streets were pretty scary!
If you are interested in meeting her, please fill out an application at www.tahoewarf.org.

Maxine
Husky
Maxine is a true sweetheart, radiating a calm and gentle disposition that warms the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her. She's estimated to be around 3 years old and has had her fair share of challenges. Maxine was picked up as a stray, after she experienced a traumatic incident, resulting in a hip injury that seems to have been caused by a collision with a vehicle.
Unfortunately she found herself in an overcrowded shelter with limited resources for medical care. It's nothing short of a miracle that Wylie stepped in to rescue her, giving her a chance at life and happiness. Maxine has now been with her caring guardian for about 5 days, and in this short time, she's already begun to reveal her unique personality.
While Maxine can be a bit skittish at times, she's making progress each day. She has her favorite spots, like hiding under the desk at work and relaxing in her crate at home, where she feels safe and secure. However, Maxine is also quite sociable and enjoys meeting new friends, offering gentle affection and sweet kisses.
Despite her hip injury, Maxine is a determined spirit who doesn't let it hold her back. She adores outdoor activities like hiking and occasionally engages in playful moments with her foster brother. Her husky heritage typically carries a reputation for high energy, but Maxine breaks the mold with her calm demeanor. She's not at all destructive and only occasionally displays that typical husky stubbornness.
While Maxine may not be a fan of car rides, she's perfectly content as long as she's securely buckled in, prioritizing her safety. One can't emphasize enough just how sweet and gentle she truly is. As she continues to settle into her new environment, we eagerly await the day when she fully blossoms, showcasing her full potential for love, loyalty, and joy.
If you are interested in Maxine, please fill out an application at www.tahoewarf.org

Mercury
Pit Bull Terrier
Look at this face!! Mercury is a big-headed, big-hearted soul who was dumped and turned into a high-kill shelter in CA.
He was so sad in the shelter, but has brightened up considerably since he was brought to WARF. He is timid but warms up fast, turning into the biggest love bug in the world. Mercury is house-trained and well-mannered; he really would love life as a couch potato! He is playful but only at appropriate times. He rides well in the car and is a clean, quiet, big-hearted soul who just needs the chance to steal your heart. A quiet environment would be best. He is not good with other animals.
If you are interested in Mercury, please fill out an application at www.tahoewarf.org and call Sam at 775-338-6631.

Nina
Pit Bull Terrier
Nina is a high energy, fun loving girl who is always ready to play! She loves to engage other dogs in play and would fit best with other high energy, playful dogs that are as big as or bigger than her. Nina enjoys tug of war, wrestling and running with her foster dog sister. She often brings a toy to get the party started!
She plays fetch quite well and this game is a great exercise outlet. Nina is very athletic and agile! She loves exploring, bounding and chasing.
This beautiful girl is still a puppy at heart and would love a home with lots of appropriate chew bones and toys.
When it is time to relax Nina enjoys cuddling and lap naps on the couch with her humans! She loves fuzzy blankets too.
Nina learns quickly and knows many basic commands including Sit, Stay, Wait, Down, Come, Leave it, Off, Drop it, Go potty and House. She is smart, curious and sensitive. It takes her time to get used to new people and situations so she will need someone who is patient and willing to teach her about new things. She is highly food/treat motivated and responds to positive praise and lots of attention.
She is crate trained for nights and when her foster family is away, though she prefers to be with her people. She does not have much experience on leash but is very trainable.
Nina has adapted well to the foster household routine. She is used to having someone home most of the day and enjoys romps in a large, fenced property throughout the day.

Rio
German Shepherd Dog - Husky
Rio is a young shepherd-husky mix (2/3 German, 1/4 husky, small amounts of Belgian, Samoyed and Rottweiler.) She is a very energetic, prey-driven dog.
She has an extremely active energy level with still a lot of puppy playfulness in her and requires an active and patient caretaker.
Rio loves to socialize and play with other dogs but definitely exhibits active alpha behavior and requires a strong dog that will give cues of what is acceptable and not acceptable.
The best place for Rio would be with a couple or older family as she requires attention, training, and time, with a fenced in yard or sizable, dedicated outdoor space and ideally another young-ish dog in the household.
Loves to go on runs and jogs and to tag along on short or long car drives (does great in the car). She loves being by her people and despises being left at home.
She gets along well with dogs. She is very energetic and needs some training, but has excellent recall and is determined to please. She is great in the car and knows basic commands but does have a stubborn streak.
Please fill out an application at www.tahoewarf.org or call or text 775-846-3773 if you are interested in meeting her.

Sophie
Wire-haired Pointing Griffon
Hi there Griffon Lovers! We were contacted to help place an 8 yo female Griff, who is living in Idaho, in a group-Griff home! Her Dad wants her to live out her retirement years being spoiled, part of the household and family unit. Will consider only local area home, within reasonable driving distance. He writes me: 'Sophie was born 8-7-2015. Weighs 60#. She is the only dog I don't hunt, not her fault. I had 3 hip replacement's when she was a pup. She has a typical Griff temperament. She is a little independent and needs adult supervision or she will wander off and go hunting. She's not a big fan of long car rides I attribute that to a couple trips to Montana when she was a pup. She gets in fine just gets a little stressed. Does fine with other dogs, not reactive to the cat on the property.' Sounds like a well adjusted Girl. Will need to be spayed prior to placement; he is arranging that now. We request a phone interview to answer questions, an application, and home visit. We will connect you with Sophie's Dad in this process, and he will take it from there! Adoption fee: to Sophie's Dad, and part will go to WARF for their help.

Stacks
Belgian Shepherd Malinois
Meet Stacks! This gentle Belgian Malinois mix was rescued from a kill shelter with minutes to spare. He was traumatized and extremely shut down, but since arriving at the sanctuary, Stacks has begun to come out of his shell and is learning to be a dog again!
He has tested well with a calm female dog so far. He is somewhat more fearful of men than of women initially but soon realizes that he can trust and will bond very quickly.
He has the lean build of a Malinois and would make a great hiking or running companion. We have not tested Stacks around cats yet, and young children would likely be a bit too boisterous for him. Stacks is eager to learn and extremely responsive to instruction.
Please complete an adoption application at www.tahoewarf.org or text/call 775-338-6631 for more information about this really special dog.

SAVING LIVES, ONE ANIMAL AT A TIME.
The Wylie Animal Rescue Foundation (WARF) is a small group of volunteers dedicated to rescuing companion animals. We rescue animals that are in imminent danger of euthanasia, usually directly from the euthanasia holding rooms of local shelters.
We have rescued thousands of animals from certain death, but millions more were not so lucky and died--unloved and unwanted--in shelters across the country. We hope that you can help us turn the tide of suffering and death.
We rely on donations to fund emergency medical treatment, spay/neuter, and rescue. Please click here to make a one-time or recurring donation. We and the animals thank you!
