Amos
Pit Bull Terrier
Amos is a happy, mellow senior pit bull mix. He was a staff favorite in a high-kill California shelter and now is at our Stagecoach sanctuary where he is awaiting a forever family. Short walks and a comfy bed to sleep on are all it will take to make Amos even happier. He loves to give kisses and is friendly to people of all ages.
Amos would be a great companion for someone who works during the day, as he is housetrained, quiet, and content to sleep the day away while he waits for his people to come home! His eyesight is poor in low light levels and he does have some arthritis, but Amos is a true "turnkey", easy dog to love. Please complete an online adoption or foster application at www.tahoewarf.org if you think you can help Amos!

Bella
German Shepherd Dog
This sweet girl Bella was pulled from the **Red List** at a high kill CA shelter. She presented with superficial road rash and an open welt in her tail so it's likely she was hit by a car.
X-rays show pubis fractured in several places. It is expected that she should heal and will need strict confinement with exercise for six to eight weeks (which will be determined precisely once she sees an orthopedist). She has a very sweet demeanor and is incredibly lovable. Best place for her would be a mellow environment where she can heal and become a dog again.
If you are interested in Bella, please fill out an application at www.tahoewarf.org or call 775-338-6631 or 775-846-3773.

Blackie
Domestic Long Hair-black
Blackie is a Black, long haired, domestic weighing 8 lbs. All vaccinations are current and are not due again until February of 2024. Also, she was recently spayed. She did not have any litter of kittens prior to being spayed.
Blackie gets along well with the dogs in her current foster home. . She is playful and loves chasing the "lit red dot" around the house. Other toys will hold her interest as well. She uses a scratching post, leaving the furniture alone for the most part and between play times is content to sit quietly around people. She is very talkative and responds when spoken to. She does not bite or scratch people. Not much of a lap cat.
She is not a fussy eater, eating both wet and dry food twice per day.
She is a door darter as are many cats, so will need a secure environment where she cannot escape into the outdoors. We feel she will adjust well in a family home where she can roam the indoors freely. She is very friendly and content around people. If you would like to know more or are interested in meeting her, please fill out an application at www.tahoewarf.org and we will be in touch!

Maxine
Husky
Maxine is a true sweetheart, radiating a calm and gentle disposition that warms the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her. She's estimated to be around 3 years old and has had her fair share of challenges. Maxine was picked up as a stray, after she experienced a traumatic incident, resulting in a hip injury that seems to have been caused by a collision with a vehicle.
Unfortunately she found herself in an overcrowded shelter with limited resources for medical care. It's nothing short of a miracle that Wylie stepped in to rescue her, giving her a chance at life and happiness. Maxine has now been with her caring guardian for about 5 days, and in this short time, she's already begun to reveal her unique personality.
While Maxine can be a bit skittish at times, she's making progress each day. She has her favorite spots, like hiding under the desk at work and relaxing in her crate at home, where she feels safe and secure. However, Maxine is also quite sociable and enjoys meeting new friends, offering gentle affection and sweet kisses.
Despite her hip injury, Maxine is a determined spirit who doesn't let it hold her back. She adores outdoor activities like hiking and occasionally engages in playful moments with her foster brother. Her husky heritage typically carries a reputation for high energy, but Maxine breaks the mold with her calm demeanor. She's not at all destructive and only occasionally displays that typical husky stubbornness.
While Maxine may not be a fan of car rides, she's perfectly content as long as she's securely buckled in, prioritizing her safety. One can't emphasize enough just how sweet and gentle she truly is. As she continues to settle into her new environment, we eagerly await the day when she fully blossoms, showcasing her full potential for love, loyalty, and joy.
If you are interested in Maxine, please fill out an application at www.tahoewarf.org

Mercury
Pit Bull Terrier
Look at this face!! Mercury is a big-headed, big-hearted soul who was dumped and turned into a high-kill shelter in CA.
He was so sad in the shelter, but has brightened up considerably since he was brought to WARF. He is timid but warms up fast, turning into the biggest love bug in the world. Mercury is house-trained and well-mannered; he really would love life as a couch potato! He is playful but only at appropriate times. He rides well in the car and is a clean, quiet, big-hearted soul who just needs the chance to steal your heart. Guess at age is somewhere between two and four. A quiet environment would be best. He is not good with other animals.
If you are interested in Mercury, please fill out an application at www.tahoewarf.org and call Sam at 775-338-6631.

Nina
Pit Bull Terrier
Nina came to us from Washoe County. She is approx. 1 year old female Terrier mix, BEAUTIFUL fawn brindle and white coat with black rimmed, brown eyes. She has short hair.
Nina is a fun loving, playful girl who is looking for her forever home! She would love a home with energetic people and doggie friends who like to play.
She enjoys bones, toys, exploring outside and naps on the couch with her people. Tug-o-war is a favorite game but she will throw the toy for herself if nobody is available to play!
She is learning doggie manners from her older dog-foster sisters as well as basic commands from her foster people.
Nina is a young dog who loves to run and has puppy energy. A home with older children/teens would be best for this reason.
Nina is curious about the world but a bit timid at first. She warms up quickly. She is crated for night and naps, though not her favorite yet. She is mostly potty trained and just needs someone to pay attention to her cues.
Nina would love a fenced yard, plenty of toys and daily walks or playtimes! She needs someone who will be a strong leader and is patient while she learns what is expected. As a young dog Nina has much potential! She is sensitive and bonds strongly. Her natural protective instinct along with guidance and boundaries will make her a loyal and loving companion.
Nina’s best home will be with someone who is home a majority of the day.She is approximately 50 lbs and will probably “fill out” to her adult weight.
If you are interested in meeting her, please fill out an application at www.tahoewarf.org or call 775-846-3773.

Sophie
Wire-haired Pointing Griffon
Hi there Griffon Lovers! We were contacted to help place an 8 yo female Griff, who is living in Idaho, in a group-Griff home! Her Dad wants her to live out her retirement years being spoiled, part of the household and family unit. Will consider only local area home, within reasonable driving distance. He writes me: 'Sophie was born 8-7-2015. Weighs 60#. She is the only dog I don't hunt, not her fault. I had 3 hip replacement's when she was a pup. She has a typical Griff temperament. She is a little independent and needs adult supervision or she will wander off and go hunting. She's not a big fan of long car rides I attribute that to a couple trips to Montana when she was a pup. She gets in fine just gets a little stressed. Does fine with other dogs, not reactive to the cat on the property.' Sounds like a well adjusted Girl. Will need to be spayed prior to placement; he is arranging that now. We request a phone interview to answer questions, an application, and home visit. We will connect you with Sophie's Dad in this process, and he will take it from there! Adoption fee: to Sophie's Dad, and part will go to WARF for their help.

Cane Corso

If you are interested in him, please fill out an application at www.tahoewarf.org

*** COURTESY LISTING *** PLEASE CALL OR E-MAIL THE PERSON LISTED. DO NOT CONTACT WARF AS WE HAVE NO FURTHER INFO.
My name is Cookies and I am 5 years old.
Luckily, I was saved from the shelter and am currently in a foster home while I wait for a family of my very own.
My rescue came and met me and took these great videos. Check them out!

My shelter notes says that I came in with a smaller dog that I was very protective of. A volunteer said this about me: Cookies exited the kennel easily, walked well on leash and pulled some toward other dogs. Allowed pets and head scratches.
Other notes say I was at the front of my kennel, took treats gently from my hand through bar. Ears and body relaxed.
One of the videos above shows Harry and me having a great dog dog meeting.
As you can see from my videos, I am a sweet, affectionate, treat motivated dog. My pictures offering my rescuer my paw and giving him kisses are adorable. My rescue has been working with me in boarding, and they say I love to play, and I recently had a great day hanging out with another dog in the rescue.
If you’d like to meet me please contact Martina Animal Rescue at martinaanimalrescue@yahoo.com or text Laura at 916-996-5777. I'm located in Martinez, CA

Dixie
English Pointer
Meet Dixie! 10 year old English Pointer. She may be a ’Senior', but she certainly doesn't act it. She enthusiastically goes on walks — but needs limits set, because of her arthritis! English Pointers don’t know when to stop!!! She gets along with other dogs in a public environment but prefers her home to herself -- so she will need to be the only dog in the household. She deserves that luxury, after all she’s been through. Dixie really is a total sweetheart, will bond quickly and strongly, and will make a great home companion and outdoor fun-buddy! How can anyone resist that face?? *** COURTESY LISTING *** PLEASE CALL OR E-MAIL THE PERSON LISTED. DO NOT CONTACT WARF AS WE HAVE NO FURTHER INFO. SAVING LIVES, ONE ANIMAL AT A TIME.
The Wylie Animal Rescue Foundation (WARF) is a small group of volunteers dedicated to rescuing companion animals. We rescue animals that are in imminent danger of euthanasia, usually directly from the euthanasia holding rooms of local shelters.
We have rescued thousands of animals from certain death, but millions more were not so lucky and died--unloved and unwanted--in shelters across the country. We hope that you can help us turn the tide of suffering and death.
We rely on donations to fund emergency medical treatment, spay/neuter, and rescue. Please click here to make a one-time or recurring donation. We and the animals thank you!
