What to do if I need to re-home my cat or dog
We do not recommend rehoming your pet free of charge. A minimum fee of $50-$100 reduces the chance of your pet becoming abandoned again after adoption and eliminates the risk of being sold to a lab, used in a dogfighting situation, or a myriad of other fates that can befall pets when given away without proper screening and follow-up.
Breed-specific rescue groups are also an option depending on what type of pet you are trying to rehome, we suggest searching online for possible breed-related help.
Our friends at PetFinder have wonderful articles to help you navigate rehoming:

Courtesy Posting
We may be able to courtesy post on our social media pages if your animal is spayed/neutered and you are able to provide us with several photos and a bio (good with other dogs, cats, kids, etc.) along with contact information.
Please email info@tahoewarf.org if you would like us to courtesy post your pet.
